So, you lost your Residence Card?
STEP 1
You MUST file a police report, stating that it’s lost.
This needs to happen ASAP, because you are legally required to carry your residence card at all times within Japan.
Hopefully it’s been handed in already.
Where can you go to report the loss?
You can file the report at Hirafu police box, or the Kutchan main police station.
STEP 2
You need to also need to ask for the report # as this is required by immigration when requesting for a replacement.
STEP 3
You must go into Sapporo Immigration, with your passport, and the police report “receipt”.
You also need to show your registered address from your residence card. This will be the green document (Jyuminhyo) you obtained when registering your address at Kutchan Town Hall on Day 1.
If you lost your MyNumber card, it’s more straight forward.
Go to the Kutchan Town Hall, Counter 1, with your passport and residence card; and get instructions from them.
